From my journal…
This afternoon, while watching a video on my computer, I got extremely drowsy. So much so that I laid down on the end of my bed with just a throw blanket over me. I was cold, so I huddled under the blanket. I felt so lethargic I could not get up. Eventually I must have drifted off to sleep, because I woke from the dream approximately two hours later.
During the dream, I found myself drifting in and out of consciousness (what we call our waking reality), and then drifting back into sleep.
I was aware that my husband was supposed to be coming home at 3:00pm.
I was aware of the bed and its orientation in the room, and my bedroom’s orientation to the front door of our home.
I kept drifting in and out, wondering when my husband was going to come home, thinking it must surely be after 3:00pm by now. (Obviously it was not.)
At one point, I remember hearing noises around the house, and thought I would get up and check to see if my husband was home.
I felt very strange… sort of ill, but not ill… just extremely drowsy. I believed I had gotten up off the bed to check the front door (but I must have been dreaming that I did.)
I believed that I was so tired, I just laid down on the floor behind the bedroom door.
While lying there, I got the feeling again that I could leave my body if I wanted to. This time, instead of being terrified by it, I decided to try it just a bit. I found myself coming out of my body through the top of my head, and sitting up on the floor. From my vantage point, I could see my body, which I was still partially in.
I did not feel any connection to my body, and I did not see anyone else around me to help me, so I became scared that I would die if I left my body.
I quickly reinserted myself into my body and tried to reintegrate myself to my physical body. I had extreme difficulty moving my body, as it seemed very heavy and lethargic still. Very drowsy.
Finally I could get my body to move, and I heard someone come in the house. I was able to get off the floor somehow, but still did not feel completely reconnected to my body.
I went out the bedroom door only to find my father standing there. He wasn’t looking directly at me, almost as though he was in a bit of a daze (or in his head), but his hand was on the edge of the door.
I reached out and touched his hand, but got no reaction. The next thing I remember was laying on the end of the bed again, feeling extremely tired.
Finally the phone (my real cell phone) jarred me awake and brought me back to this reality, and then I realized that it had all been some sort of dream. I still felt extremely tired and lethargic, but I answered the phone.
It was just a couple minutes after 3:00pm, and my husband had called to say he was on his way home.
I got up and got in the bathtub, because I was still chilly, and feeling somewhat ill, but not in a way I have ever felt ill before.
I did notice that while in the bathtub, it seemed like my heart was beating quite fast. Not as fast as it does when I’m doing sprints in the swimming pool, but much faster than it should be, or at least it seemed to me.
When my husband got home, he was also very tired and he lay down for a nap as well. To shake off the fatigue feeling, I decided to go to the store to get some groceries for Thanksgiving tomorrow.
Once in the car, I called my mother. She mentioned she was feeling very strange and lethargic also, and had been for about the same length of time that I did… for about the past three days.
I relayed the events of the afternoon and mentioned that I was feeling some sort of strange feeling in my solar plexus, just like I did after the first experience.
End of journal entry.
